In what is definitely some of the best casting news we have heard this year, Harry Potter alumni Tom Felton is joining The Flash for its third season as a series regular.
Felton is best known to audiences worldwide for his role as the devious Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise — a role which he portrayed from 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone all the way up to the 2011's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. He has since starred in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and In Secret opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Jessica Lange.
According to TVLine, he will be portraying Julian Dorn, a fellow CSI at
the Central City Police Department who "suspects there’s more to Barry
Allen than just his good guy reputation." Julian's description sounds
like the one released when it was announced that The Flash was casting a major recurring character who was described as:
"Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as
smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn't buy Barry’s
nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding — all while
concealing some secrets of his own".
Could this have been an early profile of Julian Dorn, or will Barry have made two new enemies during Season 3? Either way, we know Felton will be a series regular so expect big things for Julian Dorn.
The Flash star Grant Gustin took to twitter to celebrate when he heard the announcement:
Wait. I completely missed the @TomFelton announcement. I know what character he must be playing and I just got SO excited for this season.

Could Julian Dorn's presence be part of that change? Is it possible that
Barry's altering of the timeline could affect who we works with? It
could happen when — or perhaps if — they end up salvaging their original timeline.
The show has quite the reputation for paying homage to Harry Potter
during its two year run, with characters constantly referring to it. Who
could ever forget when Cisco commanded the lightning and shouted
"Expecto Patronum!"? Furthermore, the Season 2 episode "Flash Back" had
quite a few Harry Potter Easter eggs in it, such as the Time Wraith
which was noted as being strikingly similar to Harry Potter's Dementors.
In fact, three of the show's characters — Hartley, Cisco and Caitlin —
were even compared to Harry, Ron and Hermione. Expect the Harry Potter
love to continue when Felton joins the cast.
With Tom Felton joining the cast and the show's tackling of the Flashpoint storyline, expect things to get a lot more magical than usual in Central City when The Flash returns to the CW on October 4th.
In the words of Hartley Rathaway:
